William A. Haney, 89, of Simi Valley, passed away on December 8, 2017 in Simi Valley. William was born on December 26, 1927 to Josephine and Vincent Haney in Chicago, Illinois.Bill was Kind in spirit, a brilliant mind, strong in body with a twinkle in his blue eyes. Never too busy to help anyone, especially in math. He was very proud to say he was a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy and was stationed in Saipan. They built the hospital huts, took care of locals and prisoners and at times would run for the fox holes from enemy planes. He was Honorably Discharged in 1945.
William worked for Pac Tel for 29 years and retired in 1983, then going to school to get his Master's Degree in Mathematics from California Lutheran University. He started teaching Mathematics at Adult Education in Simi Valley and at Ventura College. He finally retired at age 73.
Bill and Shirley Stein were married on October 26, 1991. They were married for 26 magical years. He would say, "I found my one in a million" We both found each other.
From a previous marriage were four daughters: Sandra Tierman(husband Stan), Becky DiFebo(husband Tony), Robin McClure and Sherri Fowler (preceded in death(husband John),nephew Christopher and Niece, Sister Miriam Amata.
Grandchildren: Deanna Braun(husband Larry), Jim Nowlin(wife Jen), Mark, Michael, and Brian McClure, Cassandra, Samantha, and Daniel Fowler.
Great Grandchildren:Tyler and Jessica Braun, Kristen McClure, and Briana Nowlin.
Our Marriage of 26 wonderful years was joined by two additional children Philip Stein and Carrie Pollack(husband Jeff) and two grandchildren Riley and Katherine Pollack. William was preceded in death by his parents Vincent and Josephine, brother Donald and wife Beatrice.
He is not here in body, but his spirit is with me. He is truly loved and will always be in my heart.
There will be a visitation on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Reardon Simi Valley Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with interment to follow immediately at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Simi Valley.
