Russell Meadows, III, was born on April 13, 1945 in Long Beach, California. (He got a kick out of saying he was born on Friday the 13th.) He passed away on February 2, 2020, Super Bowl Sunday, which was fitting because he loved football, especially the Denver Broncos. Russell is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Terri Meadows, and was a loving and proud stepfather to sons Shawn Lyon and Michael Valentino. He is survived by his stepbrother, Steve Kuhn.
Russell was first and foremost, a musician, music being his lifelong passion. He played in several bands throughout his career, composed music for the entertainment industry and taught all things string, especially bass guitar. He received a Masters Degree in Orchestral Conducting, which he jokingly would state, that and a quarter would buy a cup of coffee. Russ enjoyed “jam sessions” with fellow musicians and made several life-long friends through his music.
By trade, Russell was a finish carpenter and held a contractor’s license. His woodworking talents came in handy when he needed to repair or modify one of his many bass and acoustic guitars. But, at all times, Russell was a musician.
