Rita Marie Landon

Rita Marie Landon, a Simi Valley resident since 1964, entered into eternal rest on September 18, 2024, at age 94.

Rita and her late husband of 62 years, Richard Landon, raised 6 daughters. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, parents, John and Catherine Peterson, as well as her daughter Elaine Young. She is survived by daughters Kathleen Landon, Susan Thiele (Edward), Wendie Landon-Murphy, Nancy Morrissey and Marcia Southwell, as well as 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Rita was a devoted member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic church since 1964 and served her church community by making rosaries, taking communion to homebound parishioners, greeted parishioners at the  7:00 a.m. Mass, as well as being on the bereavement committee. 

Rita spent the last few years of her life at Sunrise Assisted Living where she made a lasting impression on the staff and residents. She loved people and made friends everywhere she went. 

Rosary will be held at St. Rose of Lima in Simi Valley on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial at Assumption Cemetery. Reception to follow.
