Our beautiful mother died peacefully after a lengthy illness on May 15, 2016. Born June 1, 1928 in Piru, CA, she lived a purposeful life focused on her family including many brothers and sisters, extended family members, and a multitude of lifelong friends. A devout Catholic and member of Holy Cross Church in Moorpark, CA, Ramona was a volunteer receptionist and a Eucharistic Minister at the parish.
She was always involved in fundraising and co-founded the Christmas Boutique and tamale sales more than 32 years ago. In 2005, The Archdiocese of Los Angeles presented Ramona with the Papal Honor Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice recognizing her personal commitment to both the Church and the Holy Father for her dedication at Holy Cross Church. Ramona retired from Moorpark Unified School District after 11 years as a Classroom Aide for Home Economics and Special Education. Well known as a talented seamstress, many will remember the beautiful garments she so lovingly made from elaborate costumes to exquisite bridal gowns.
