Phyllis Elaine Toyne (nee Basler) was born in Carroll, Iowa on July 26, 1930. Phyllis attended Carroll High School and graduated in 1947. She attended the University of Iowa majoring in fine arts. She moved to Pasadena, California in 1957. Phyllis resided in Lake Forest, California for 37 years. Phyllis worked for several companies as a finance and credit manager and retired in 1997.
Phyllis was a scratch bridge player and loved to travel including visits to China, New Zealand, and across the United States. Phyllis appreciated music (Abba), a good musical or comedy (Some Like It Hot) and fine art (Degas, Renoir and Picasso) and enjoyed parties and spending time with her friends. Phyllis was a proud American who loved her country and was unwavering in her patriotism. She was irreverent, funny and kind.
Phyllis was a devoted mother and grandmother. She put her love and energy into raising her family as a single mother and most recently enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren Nick, Alex, Lauren and Sarah. Her love, pride and devotion to her family were steadfast and shall endure.
Phyllis passed away on May 22, 2020 in Simi Valley, CA. Her children, Cameron and Heather, were lucky and proud to have such an intelligent, devoted and caring mother. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, her sister Sandra and her brother Roger. Her survivors include her children, Cameron Toyne and Heather Taylor, her son-in-law Ken Taylor and daughter-in-law Nancy Lockhart-Toyne and her grandchildren Nick and Alex Taylor and Lauren and Sarah Toyne. She will be forever missed by those whom she loved and who loved her.
