Paul Anthony Davis

Paul Davis, husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on December 9, 2023, at the age of 86. He was born to Virginia and Mark Davis on September 19, 1937, in Los Angeles. After he graduated from Serra High School his family moved to Woodland Hills where, while working at a gas station, he met his wife of 59 years, Bonnie Berning. Paul and Bonnie married in 1960 and soon started a family. They moved from the San Fernando Valley to Simi Valley in 1964, where they built countless memories in the same home for 59 years.

Paul started his career in the labor department at Warner Brothers Studio in 1959. He was fortunate to experience the rapid growth of the movie industry and he loved sharing those stories with family and friends. He was a proud member of the Local 724 Studio Utility Employees Union. After his retirement in 1999, he recounted details of the making of movies and the various stages that were used in an interview for a documentary on the studio. He remained actively engaged with his fellow retirees by organizing an annual breakfast at the Corral Café in Burbank, an undeniable highlight of the year for everyone.

Post retirement, Paul spent most of his now ample free time working in his garage on car and woodworking projects. A life-long “car guy” who built and raced hot rods at local drag strips in his youth, he picked up the hobby again, fulfilling a long-time goal of restoring his dad’s 1962 Chevy Truck which he then raced at the Saugus drag strip. Paul and Bonnie also became regulars at the Simi Valley senior center with Paul honing his woodcarving skills.

Paul was a “people person” always eager for conversation with folks at local cafes, the grocery store, and the bank. He and Bonnie adored their grandchildren and religiously attended their school and sporting events, producing volumes of photos in celebration. He will always be remembered for his genuine interest in the lives of people he met and for the endless supply of stories he told.

Paul is predeceased by his wife Bonnie Davis and survived by his son Glen Davis and wife Cornelia, son Dwayne Davis and wife Carol, daughter Janet Little and husband Greg, and grandchildren Max Davis and Samantha Little. A celebration of life will be held at Reardon Mortuary in Simi Valley on February 3 at 11:00am.
