Nino Rizzi

November 9, 1947 — October 7, 2014

Nino Trifone Rizzi, (86) beloved husband, father, nonno, brother and uncle passed away October 7th with family at his side.
Nino was born November 9, 1927 in Adelfia, Italy. While there; he served in the Italian army and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, Italy. He worked for the Restoration & Conservation of the Sacred Arts, for the Prelatura Nullius (the state owned Sacred Arts), Altamura, Acquaviva and Conversano (Bari).
Nino was a Permanent member and Associate of the prestigious Academia Tiberina in Rome, which recognizes superior accomplishments in Fine Arts, Sciences and Higher Education.
In 1969, Nino relocated his family to the US where he continued his formal education at CalArts, receiving a Masters of Fine Arts in Design. He also received a life-time teaching credential in a variety of art subjects.
He worked with many of the top Italian and American filmmakers in the Motion Picture Industry. With his film, television, commercial and theatrical productions, he has over 200 credits for professional and educational projects.
Nino was dedicated to the theater and teaching; he blended the two by teaching Cinematic/Theatrical Production Design and Technical Direction at California Institute of the Arts, California Lutheran University, Pasadena City College, Los Angeles School District and Ventura Community Colleges.
After Nino retired he kept busy at the Simi Valley Senior Center teaching theater. He also learned to operate a computer for video production while in his 70s. He continued his passion of painting for as long as he could, leaving his family with many treasured works of art.
Nino is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Giosy. His sons; Donato, (Kelly); Leo, grandsons; Nick and Joe. Brother; Franco (Yolanda) Sisters; Teresa (Mario .d.); Rosa (Chester) and many loving nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held at Reardon Simi Valley Funeral Home, 2636 Sycamore Drive, Simi Valley, CA on Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 8:30 – 9:30 am. Burial will follow at 10:00 am at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, 1380 Fitzgerald Road, Simi Valley, CA
