Nick Virzi

June 20, 1933 — September 21, 2017

Nick L. Virzi left us peacefully from home with his children at his side on September 21st, 2017. Nick was 84 and a resident of Simi Valley for almost 50 years.
He was born in Cleveland Ohio, on June 20th, 1933 and grew up with three brothers and a sister. Nick was the epitome of a positive person long before it was popular, he was quietly determined. At the age of 6 years old,
on Christmas eve day, he was struck by a drunk driver and severely hurt, lucky to be alive. He tolerated being in the hospital for a year and a body cast for 6 months yet he kept going. Despite this rough start
he enjoyed his childhood and teen years, making many friends and creating lots of memories. He met his future wife Maryann while they were teens and became husband and wife in 1956 and were married till Maryann’s
Death in 2012. Nick grew up in the family business which was owning/operating grocery stores in the Cleveland area, and then on to managing grocery stores for what was known as Kroger’s at the time.
He was introduced to the Fuller Brush Company and was a very successful salesman where he met many lifelong friends. Nick, Maryann and family moved to California in 1968 based on a bet with a friend. Moving into a new home in the Mountain Valley development he established his long time roots to Simi Valley. He purchased the former Simi Valley Country club which was situated on 3 acre property with a very large pool and built a new home for He and Maryann. This property became very well known for the Easter egg hunts that were held each year with hundreds of local children looking for thousands of eggs.
Nick and Maryann retired to a smaller home overlooking the Wood Ranch golf course where they had a beautiful view of the golf course and some of its lakes. Nick would say “I lived a good life and I have no regrets”. He is survived by his four children, Nick, Carl, Tina and Gina and his seven grandchildren, and his brothers Andrew & Carmen. A memorial service will be held at Reardon Simi Valley Funeral Home on October 3rd from 5pm- 9pm with his burial at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth on October 4th at 11am
