Twentynine Palms

In memoriam: Michael Scott Brooks, July 14, 1967 - January 9, 2024. Scott passed while visiting his daughter in Simi Valley.

Born in the San Gabriel Valley, Scott moved to Palm Springs as a teenager and graduated from Palm Springs High in 1985. He was subsequently employed by Anderson Printing for a decade before moving into the construction industry, working on home and business remodeling projects all over the Coachella Valley up until his death.

Scott was best known as a local musician in the Coachella Valley, playing bass and guitar in bands such as Dötted Swiss, Zezo, Cactus Slim, Indignation, Throw Rag, and Hot Beat. He also loved to sing karaoke and perform at open mic nights.

A loving father and grandfather, Scott was always there for his family as well as his friends. An unending source of support and generosity, he always offered encouragement to everybody in his life. He was a free spirit who lived life to the fullest, and will live on in the memories of all those whose lives he touched.

Scott is survived by his wife Julie, his parents and siblings, two children, and five grandchildren.
