Marie F. Cirigliano
July 29,1922 -August,4 2019
At the age of 97. Marie F. Cirigliano has passed away from natural causes. She was born Marie Granite and raised in New York, New York to blue collar, Italian immigrant parents and was the elder sister of the family, along with her younger sister, Matida. After graduating high school, she helped supplement her family's income by taking some odd jobs to navigate through the Great Depression. During World War II she became close, through letters and correspondence with Albert Cirigliano, a childhood friend from her neighborhood, who was stationed in the European theater of the U.S. Army's operation. Subsequently, when he returned home at the war's end, they were married just a few months after that. Two years later, she and her husband began raising a family consisting of two sons, Albert Jr. and Frank, and later, the joy of their lives, their daughter Loretta. She was a devoted wife, grandmother and ultimate "stay at home" Mom, as they say today, although to help pay the tuition of her daughter's Catholic school, she went back to work as a Dental Assistant, one of the professions she had held before her marriage. She was a selfless person who always put her family first before herself. She never spoiled herself with clothes or jewelry and made sure her family's needs were taken care of first. She enjoyed music and dancing and whenever there was a special occasion or dinner dance party, she and her husband, as they were excellent dancers, would always thrill the onlookers with their skills on the dance floor. Ultimately, Marie and Al, who had retired from his city job, moved to Los Angeles in 1982 where they spent their remaining years enjoying the warmth of both the California sunshine and their family.
We will miss her warm smile and the love of a good time with her friends and family, but the wonderful memories that she had left with us will live in our hearts forever.
