Lorraine Keaney

July 24, 1940 — November 9, 2023

Lorraine B (Reynolds) Keaney passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023, at the age of 83.
Lorraine was born on July 24th, 1940 in Lynn, MA to Frederick and Pauline Reynolds. She was the ninth of ten children, and the second of three girls in the family. She attended and graduated from Lynn Classical High School class of 1958.
In 1959, Lorraine met David Paul Keaney at the Elm Farm grocery store. They were married in 1960, and went on to have four children, all boys: Paul David Keaney, Martin Frederick Keaney, Timothy Wyland Keaney, and Christopher Patrick Keaney.
Lorraine’s life was defined by overcoming – overcoming her husband’s three bouts of cancer while raising 4 children, a move of her family to California in the 1970s in search of new opportunity, a back injury that left her unable to work until it was fixed years later, a devastating earthquake that made their home in Chatsworth, CA unlivable (and then fighting the insurance company to build a new one), and the passing of her husband David far too early. She overcame all of it.
Lorraine reinvented herself after David’s passing. She moved from Los Angeles to Austin, Texas to be near her youngest grandchildren. She traveled quite a bit - locally all over the United States to see her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as abroad to Europe and Australia. In her 60’s, she started working at H&R block as a tax preparer, fulfilling a life-long dream to help others with their finances. Helping others was core to who she was.
Lorraine was full of life, and was often the life of the party. She was known for being spunky, always laughing, smiling, winking, joking and dancing. She was a gracious host that would go out of her way to make anyone (human or animal) invited to her home feel welcomed. She always fought for her family and looked to support them by any means necessary. She was an amazing mother, beloved nana and great grandmother and she will be missed.
Lorraine is survived by three of her sons, Marty, Tim (married to Debra K. Keaney), and Chris (married to Elizabeth S. Keaney); her daughter-in-law Kate, her grandchildren Beth (married to Peter C. Glein), John (married to Maria H. Keaney), David, Meghan, and Matthew; her great-grandchildren Cameron, Foster, Caleb, Marti, and Madeleine; her grand-puppies, Clinton, Lady, Harper, Loki, Aspen, Layla, and Marina; and her grand-kitty Lando.
She was predeceased by her husband David, her son Paul, and her brothers: Frederick, Arthur, Bob, Paul, Eddie, Richie, and Don, and sisters: Jackie and Karen.
The family will have services in Cedar Park, Texas and Simi Valley, California to celebrate Lorraine, before she is laid to rest next to David in Chatsworth California. More info can be found on Lorraine’s Facebook page or at https://www.beckchapels.com/obituaries/Lorraine-B-Keaney?obId=29850539.
