Leland Decatur Haack
SIMI VALLEY – June 27, 1935 ~ December 4, 2021
Leland Decatur Haack “Lee” at 86 years of age, passed away in Simi Valley on December 4, 2021. He spent his final moments with a couple of small laughs and the comfort of loved ones. Lee was born and raised in Van Nuys and lived in Simi Valley for more than 60 years.
His wife of 27 years, Elizabeth Josephine Haack “Betty” predeceased him in December 2008. He is survived by his four daughters, Debra Blaine, Teri Pliego, Lori Jacoby and Stephanie Rosenthal, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
Lee was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Simi Valley since the 1960’s. He served the church and its ministries on the Bishops Committee as well as being active in the Cursillo Community. He served his country in the United States Army, at Fort Devens, MA and with the Navy Seabees out of Port Hueneme, CA.
He was a passionate man who loved culture, reading, his family and his God. One of his most memorable adventures was traveling to Israel where he spent his time with a local family seeing the Holy Land and immersing himself in the culture. We would have wished for him more opportunity to travel, however he has now set upon the greatest journey of all. Lee will be missed greatly by his family and his friends.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, 280 Royal Ave., Simi Valley at 11 a.m., January 15, 2022.
