A proud daughter of Santa Paula, California, Kathryn Ann (Kate) Robinson was born on July 10, 1949 to Harry and Olive Robinson. She graduated from Santa Paula Union High School in 1967 and went on to earn a B. A. in Anthropology from the University of California. After gaining some life experience, she went on to fulfill her enduring ambition of finding a job that let her help people, earning an MSW in Counseling Psychology from University of North Dakota. She went on to work in family therapy and child protection in North Dakota. When her father's declining health brought her back to California, she took a job counseling at-risk youth for Ventura County, where she worked until her own declining health forced her to take disability retirement.
Her friends remember her love of animals; her creativity, especially in art, photography, and writing; her interest in different cultures and spiritualities, and her willingness to explore everything from Star Trek fandom to a variety of musical instruments. Her Renaissance Faire costumes were memorable, even when she decorated her walker to attend. We miss her ability to converse knowledgeably on a wide range of subjects, her wit, and the slightly raspy chuckle we heard so often.
