On the morning of February 21, Jesus Prieto was reunited with his beloved Soledad, wife and mother of their 8 children, who departed this earth 15 years earlier.
Born in Chihuahua Mexico the 2nd of 6 children, Jesus was the movie star handsome, dynamic and successful patriarch of a family he settled and raised in the San Fernando Valley. It was there he established an extremely successful restaurant in the 1960’s which served Van Nuys and surrounding communities as a place of celebration, enjoyment and relaxation for 3 decades.
His intelligence and sharp wit helped inform, entertain and center his 5 daughters and 3 sons. He came to this country with very little to his name but the work ethic and indomitable spirit bred of generations of land owners (with holdings exceeding 500,000 acres), businessmen and political leaders who first settled in Mexico in the 1700’s. Independent and ambitious, in 1960 Jesus struck out on his own and brought his young family to America, first settling in Toluca Lake.
After retiring, he moved his family to Simi Valley where he enjoyed his role as grandfather and became Don to his family, friends and many of his neighbors!
Jesus was deeply loved and respected. He will be greatly missed by his large family including his daughters Victoria, Amanda, Jennifer, Rosie and Lynda, sons Alex, Armando and Frank as well as his grandchildren Brian, Aaron, Jesse, Monica, Beth, Chad, Ashley, Christie, David, Jackie, Stewart, Jesse, Michele, William, Michael, Danny, Emily, Conner and numerous great-grandchildren.
A viewing will take place from 5 to 9 pm and rosary at 7 pm, Thursday, February 25, at the Reardon Simi Valley Funeral Home, 2636 Sycamore Dr., Simi Valley CA 93065.
A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 27 at St. John Eudes Church, 9901 Mason Ave., Chatsworth, CA 91311. Interment will follow immediately at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Simi Valley at 1380 Fitzgerald Road.
