George Quentin Morris passed away on the morning of August 15, 2024 at the age of 77. He led a full life and departed peacefully in the company of his wife and two sons in Thousand Oaks, California.
George was born in Chicago Illinois to George W. and Irene Morris. As a youth he developed a love for music, especially classical and learned to play the piano and flute. Later he became an accomplished guitar player of popular music of the ‘70s and bluegrass.
While attending Prospect High School he joined the track team and received a varsity letter in football and track. To this day he holds track records.
Attending the University of Illinois on a Track Scholarship, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He competed in numerous track events and was one of the fastest runners on the track team.
After 5 years at U of I, George joined the Navy and attained the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. When released from active duty, George was stationed in San Diego, California and decided to stay in California because the weather was so nice.
George worked as an Engineering Instructor utilizing his naval experience. Later he became a self-taught electronics engineer, involved with designing power supplies. He became an inventor of sorts, developing designs for power supplies, speakers and carburetors. He holds patents for 3 of his carburetor designs.
George is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen and his sons Christopher and Brian, his sister Carolyn, and his brothers Geoffrey and Gregory, as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
A loving father and husband was lost and George will be missed dearly. Thank you for everything George, we love you.
George’s remains will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois alongside his parents. May he Rest in Peace.
