Geoffrey "Geoff" Cady, aged 61, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024, surrounded by love and his family, after a courageous 2 1/2 year battle with stage four cancer. Born on October 31, 1962, in Pasadena, CA, Geoff was adopted by his loving parents, Loris and Kathryn Cady. He was raised in South Pasadena with his younger sister, Kim. Later in life, he was connected with his biological siblings, John, Janice, Judy and Jeff.
As a young boy, Geoff was actively involved in the Boy Scouts and he participated in Indian Guides with his dad through the YMCA. He enjoyed playing baseball and was a talented drummer, performing in the marching band and jazz band during his time at South Pasadena High School. Geoff also had a rock band with his friends, showcasing his passion for music. His love for vintage cars began in his youth, and he learned to work on them, a hobby that brought him great joy throughout his life.
Geoff married the love of his life, Maria Cady, and together they raised three beautiful daughters: Kathy, Christina, and Andrea. He was a devoted family man, always putting his loved ones first and cherishing every moment spent with them.
Geoff earned a degree in optical engineering and spent three years in the seminary. He taught at Crespi High School and worked in various IT and Project Management positions. A jack of all trades and a master of all, Geoff was known for his remarkable skills and talents. He was also a great leader and speaker, inspiring those around him with his wisdom and eloquence.
Throughout his life, Geoff was known for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. He had many hobbies, including being a devoted Kings fan, telescope enthusiast, BBQ master, woodworking, gardening, camping, 3D printing, silk screening, cup designing, car detailing, golfing, coaching, and sticker making. His enthusiasm for these hobbies was infectious to everyone around him. Geoff woke up every day with a plan, always driven and purposeful. He was a light and a force, reminding us that the way you make people feel is never forgotten.
Geoff had a distinguished career, where he made significant contributions to his field. He was highly respected by his colleagues and left a lasting impact through his dedication and hard work.
His commitment to his community was evident through his involvement in various organizations and volunteer work. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and made a positive difference in the lives of many.
Geoff is survived by his wife Maria, his daughters Kathy, Christina, and Andrea, his father Loris, his siblings, Kim, John and Janice, and numerous family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A rosary and visitation will be held on July 18 at Reardon Mortuary, with the viewing at 5 PM and the rosary at 6:30 PM. The funeral will take place on Friday, July 19, at 10 AM at Saint Peter Claver Church in Simi Valley, followed by burial at Assumption Cemetery. A reception will be held at St. Peter Claver Hall.
Geoff will be remembered for his loving spirit, unwavering strength, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
