Ellen Watt

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and Nana. Ellen (Nana) was born in Kilkenny, Ireland on October 30, 1916 to Lawrence and Kathleen Gaynor and went to her eternal rest on February 2, 2016, in Newbury Park. She was predeceased by her husband Peter Watt. Peter and Ellen were married in 1940, immigrated to the United States in 1950, and lived in Boston and Santa Monica/San Fernando Valley. In 1965, they moved to Toronto, Canada. Ellen moved to Simi Valley in 1986 and to Mary Health of the Sick Nursing Facility in Newbury Park in 2011.
Ellen loved life and especially spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church for 25 years.
Ellen is survived by her daughters Jeannie Holden (Robert) and Kathy Cross (Frank), grandchildren Mark Holden, Shannon Holden Clark, Kelly Cross Zertler, Adam Cross, three great-grandchildren Faith Morris, Ethan Morris, and Tommy Clark, and her sister Mary Carroll. Ellen’s family would like to sincerely thank the Sister Servants of Mary and staff of Mary Health of the Sick Nursing Facility for their loving care over the past four years.
Viewing will be on Monday February 8 from 5-9 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm at Reardon Simi Valley Funeral Home, 2636 Sycamore Drive. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday February 9, at 11:30 am, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 1305 Royal Avenue, Simi Valley, 93065. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, Simi Valley.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations in Ellen’s memory to Mary Health of the Sick Skilled Nursing Facility, 2929 Theresa Drive, Newbury Park, CA 91320.
