Dorothy Naberhaus

October 19, 1936 — July 22, 2015

Dorothy "Dottie" Ann Naberhaus passed away on the morning of July 22, 2015, following a brief, yet courageous, battle with cancer. She was 78 years old.Dottie was born October 19, 1936, to Marie and Joseph Esselman of Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from Mother of Mercy High School in 1955. After graduation, she worked for the Prudential Insurance Company of America. She married the love of her life, Bill Naberhaus, on June 28, 1958. Together, they built a beautiful life in Evendale, Ohio. Dottie enjoyed her life as a busy homemaker, raising their three children. They always held the precious memories of their loving family and friends in Ohio close to their hearts. The family left Evendale in 1979, embarking on a new adventure that took them first to Little Rock, Arkansas, and later to California, where Simi Valley became "home" in 1981. Dottie and Bill enjoyed their time together, playing cards, cooking, traveling, and spending time with their children and friends. Sadly, their time together ended far too soon, as Bill passed away in September, 1986. Dottie was grateful to have her new “family” of friends, many of whom she met through Simi New in Town, and she always looked forward to her weekly bridge games and outings with her dear friends. In addition to her love of card games, especially bridge, she had a tremendous love of reading and enjoyed the challenge of a great crossword puzzle. Dottie also enjoyed television. Among her favorites were old movies, soap operas, and sports, especially football and the Cincinnati Bengals! She adored her three grandchildren and always looked forward to spending time with her family.Dottie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill (1986), parents Marie (1993) and Joseph (1950), sister Rosemary (1989), and most recently, her beloved daughter-in-law, Christine (2015).She is survived by her three loving children, Mark (Jeanine) Naberhaus, Steve Naberhaus, and Jennifer (Duston) Williams, and three adoring grandchildren, Andrew (Natalie) Naberhaus, Katie Naberhaus, and Morgan Williams. She will be dearly missed.A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Simi Valley, 1325 Royal Ave., Simi Valley, CA.
