Dorothy A. Luther, 91, of Simi Valley, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, November 23, 2014. She had lived in Southern California since 1950 moving here from her native Kansas. Dorothy Arndt was born January 13, 1923 in Olpe, Kansas. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from Oklahoma State University in 1949. She went on to work at several hospitals in Southern California in a career that spanned more than 30 years. While working at her first job, she met and fell in love with a handsome soldier just returned from the war named George Luther. They married in Long Beach in May of 1952. She did a marvelous job of balancing career and motherhood, raising 5 children, and providing a loving gathering place for her children, their spouses, the grandchildren, and great grandchildren to come together through the years.
