In loving memory of our honored father, widowed husband, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mr. Donald Eugene Reed passed away on Saturday, February 12th at 8:30pm at his home in Simi Valley, California at the age of 82. Mr. Reed is a retired Veteran with over 33 years of military service in the Navy and Air Force. He worked as an engineer for the government for over 30 years, retiring from the Post Office in 1991. He enjoyed ocean sailing, trips to Hawaii, and cruises to Alaska.
He is survived by one daughter, one son, 9 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Donald Reed was the widowed husband of Merrilee Fay Reed. They loved vacationing and raising their children, Melita Winnick and Stephen Oliver Jr. Mr. Reed was widowed in 1995. He was a kind man, always wanted to help others in need and made a positive impact on the lives of those he touched. Mr. Reed built intricate sail boats in his extracurricular time and enjoyed having a second home on the beach in Oxnard, where he could watch the sailboats, spend quality time with his close friends, and sail if his heart desired.
May you Rest In Peace with God in Heaven knowing you are dearly loved and deeply missed. We will never forget the love you had for us and your sunshine smile. Miss you so much dad!
Services will be held on Thursday, March 10th at 1pm, located at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, California.
Donations can be made to the Cancer Society in honor of his beautiful wife Merrillee or to the American Lung Association in support of research to cure chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and to the Historical-Cultural Monument Chatsworth Community Church.
