Donald S. Hemphill passed on January 15, 2017 with his children by his side. Donald was born in the Bronx, NY on July 28, 1937 to Lucy and Daniel Hemphill and had one sister, Gloria Calijone who all preceded him in death.
Donald was a Marine Corps Veteran and served in the National Guard. He then worked for New Jersey Bell and moved to California with his family and worked for Pacific Bell as a Telephone Maintenance Splicing Technician, retiring after 42 years. Donald met his beautiful wife, Angela in New Jersey and married in 1960. They had four
children and moved to California in 1978.He will now be reunited with the love of his life, Angela who passed in 2005.Donald’s hobbies were bowling and vacationing in Laughlin as well as Las Vegas. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He took joy in watching the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees. Donald was a member of the Senior Club & Marine Corps Association.
He is survived by daughter Donna and son-in-law Dave, son Donald and daughter-in-law April, daughter Dawn and son-in-law Scott and son Michael and daughter-in-law Jennifer.As well as his favorite crumb-snatchers (grandchildren) Nicole, Kayla, Tyler, Ashley, Cory, Angelina, Alex, Brendan, and Gianna.In addition, he is survived by sister-in-law Antonette and brother-in-laws Tony, Paul and Rob along with numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Marine Corps League Det 597, American Red Cross and The Navy Relief Society. There will be a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 24 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with interment following immediately after at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Simi Valley.
