David A. Wetterberg, 85, of Woodland Hills, passed away on October 13, 2018 in Simi Valley, CA. David was born on October 29, 1932 in Andover, Massachusetts.
Dave was an English teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District at John Francis Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley, California for more than 35 years. He also served as a mentor teacher for the City of Los Angeles, training many new teachers along the way. Dave retired in 1994.
Dave served his country as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton prior to becoming a teacher. He enjoyed his affiliation with the California Writers Club San Fernando Valley Branch after retiring from teaching, and served as the Club's president for many years. Dave was an avid writer of poetry and short stories, and he led various critique writing groups throughout the years where he spent valued time sharing stories with his friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ellen. He is survived by his daughter Kathy Priestley, and two grandsons Brian and Michael Priestley; and his daughter Jill Copsey and her husband Jeff, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. His loyal cat Stoney sat by his side until the very end.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at The Foothills at Simi Valley 5300 E. Los Angeles Ave Simi Valley, CA
