David Leroy Sadler
July 12, 1934 - April 17, 2020
David Sadler was born in Palmdale, California in 1934, to Lyle and Josie (Holland) Sadler. His grandparents settled in the Antelope Valley near the turn of the last century. After graduating from Antelope Valley High School he entered the University of California at Santa Barbara as a Music Major. Two years later he enlisted in the Army and served most of his tour of duty in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, David returned to UC Santa Barbara and changed his major to Economics and Business Administration. There he met Peggy Jane Young. They were married in 1957. David graduated with Honors in 1959 and went to work for Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo. Four years later he accepted a position with Litton Guidance and Control Systems in Woodland Hills. Dave’s career grew from Financial Analyst to Controller to Group Controller to Vice President of Finance for Litton Industries. He retired in 1999.
David and Peggy and their two children, Robert and Leslie, moved to Simi Valley in 1963 and bought their first home. They joined the Simi Valley Presbyterian Church (now Stonebridge Community Church) and remained active members. They also became very involved in the community. When Simi Valley became a city, David served on the Joint Powers Authority for several years. Both Peggy and David were active with the Simi Valley High School Music Boosters.
An avid patriot, David was a founding member of the Ventura County Lincoln Club where he served as Treasurer for many years. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the American Air Museum in England, and For the Troops in Simi Valley. Over the years he supported many local, state and national political candidates, and never failed to vote.
David enjoyed traveling with Peggy and they cruised to many countries following his retirement and enjoyed many road trips in the U.S. But spending time with his family, especially their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was his greatest joy. He is survived by his son Robert (Serena) Sadler, daughter Leslie (Doug) Klinchuch, grandson Matthew (Malinda) Klinchuch, granddaughter Amanda (Matthew) Thompson, grandsons Ian Sadler, Morgan Sadler and granddaughter Jade Sadler. Great grandchildren are Maddox and McKinley Klinchuch, Gavin and Grayson Thompson. He also has many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on May 15, 2021 in Simi Valley, California. Donations may be made in David’s memory to either Stonebridge Community Church (
