Darlene Diane Hanssen, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on October 1, 2023 at the age of 83 from chronic health complications in Moorpark, CA.
Darlene was born on September 23, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois. She received her registered nurse certification as a graduate of St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing in 1960. She worked in obstetrics in various hospitals in the Chicago area and as a corporate nurse for Allstate Insurance while ending her career in Thousand Oaks, CA as a back office nurse in an OB Gyn private practice.
Darlene was a woman of unwavering faith with an immense love for her family. She shared generously with all those fortunate enough to know her. She exemplified the essence of hospitality, welcoming everyone into her heart and home with open arms.
Darlene’s vivacious spirit was infectious. Her presence could light up any room. She was known for her kind-hearted nature that endeared her to all who crossed her path. She had an extraordinary gift for making people feel valued, heard, and loved. Her ability to listen, offer encouragement, and support those in need was unparalleled, making her a cherished confidant and friend to many.
Darlene had an inherent playfulness that endeared her to young and old alike. She loved spending time with little ones, filling their lives with laughter and joy. Her playful spirit and warm smile could turn ordinary moments into treasured memories.
One of her greatest joys in life was entertaining and hosting gatherings. Darlene was passionate about transforming her home into a haven of beauty and warmth. Her talents extended to the kitchen, where she delighted in cooking and baking for family and friends.
Darlene's legacy is one of love, generosity, and hospitality. She leaves behind a treasure trove of memories that will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Though she may have departed this world, her spirit and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Darlene Diane Hanssen is survived by her husband, John Hanssen, her children Pamela Warner (Timothy), Camille Corcilius (Charles), Michael Ciszek (Karen), Paul Fields (Jody), Eric Hanssen, and Laura Farina (Larry); her grandchildren Alicia Corcilius (Christopher), Jeanette Levy (Kevin), Amelia Corcilius, Amanda Corcilius, Alexander Ciszek, Melissa Ciszek, Isabella Real, Thomas Real, and Sofia Farina; and her great grandchildren, Violet Levy, Gunter Mitchell, Vernon Levy, and Esther Levy. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all those who were fortunate to be a part of her life.
A celebration of Darlene's life will be held at a future date in the Chicago area, place to be determined.
May she find eternal peace. Darlene's memory will forever shine as a beacon of love, faith, and hospitality in our hearts.
