Remembering Charles "Chuck" Eaton
Charles was born December 31, 1934 to Herbert and Tessie Eaton in Steeleville, Missouri. He grew up in Bourbon, Missouri with his four sister's. Returning home from his Army Service, he met Janet Matthews who had come to teach at Bourbon High School. They were married on August 27, 1960. ISTAR, who was revolutionizing the stock market by computerizing it, he was their 100th employee. ISTAR became Quotron and eventually other names, but Charles worked for them for 34 years before his health forced him to retire. After being District Manager of the St. Louis area office, Quotron relocated him to Southern California and in 1967 he brought his young family to the San Fernando Valley where they lived until moving to Agoura Hills in 1989.
Charles was one of those lucky people who loved his job in the computer field, doing nationwide trouble shooting for Qoutron where he was respected for his knowledge of computers, his dedication to his job, his teamwork, attitude and integrity.
His hobbies included Square Dancing and Round Dancing, in which he and Janet participated for 30 years and made many wonderful friends. He also enjoyed camping with family and friends starting with a tube tent and progressing to numerous recreational vehicles. For many years he loved playing Chess and going to Las Vegas with his friend, Tom. While his health permitted, he enjoyed travelling, visiting 18 countries and many States. in his retirement, playing bridge and other card games with friends, doing crossword puzzles and going to his Grandson's baseball games kept him busy. His greatest joy was being a Grandfather and letting hos Grandson's know how proud he was of their accomplishments.
Charles will live on through his Wife Janet, Daughter Cheri (and Dave), and his Grandchildren David and Ethan. He was predeceased by his son Chuck, his parents and three sister's. He is also survived by one sister Shirley Miller (and Roger) and numerous relatives and dear friends.
He was a Gentle Man of few words with a warm smile and willing hand for his friends, family and colleagues. He will always be in our hearts and minds as he left a lasting impression on each of us.
